President al-Assad receives congratulatory cable from President Putin on occasion of Syria’s National Day

Damascus, SANA- President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday received a cable of congratulation from Russian President Vladimir Putin on occasion of Syria’s Independence Day.

In his cable, President Putin stressed the continued stance of his country in support of the peaceful settlement to the crisis in Syria through the comprehensive national dialogue which aims at stopping the bloodshed and uniting all the Syrians in combating the international forces of terrorism and extremism.

Putin reiterated Russia’s determination to continue its active support to achieve these goals and to protect the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and its territorial integrity.

The Russian President voiced confidence that continuing the development of the Russian-Syrian traditional friendly relations meets the interests of the two countries’ peoples, and accords with the system of ensuring the regional and international security.

Putin wished the Syrian people a safe and prosperous life and President al-Assad health and success.

President al-Assad also received similar congratulatory cables form the heads of state of Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Cuba, India, DPRK, South Africa, Indonesia, and Turkmenistan, in which they offered their best wishes to the government and people of Syria and hoped that the crisis in it will be over and security and stability will be restored to it, in addition to voicing commitment to bolstering the relations of friendship of cooperation between their countries and Syria.
