Astana, SANA – Russian Presidential Envoy for Astana talks Alexander Lavrentiev said on Tuesday that the pinpointing of the sites of Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS terrorist organizations in Syria is one of the most important issues that are being discussed at Astana 3 talks.
Lavrentiev told reporters that this issue of pinpointing the sites of ISIS and al-Nusra is so important, and that Russia is drawing the attention of other delegations participating in the meeting to this issue, adding that Iran and Jordan support Russia in this regard.
He added that fact the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic has come to the meeting is a point to its credit, adding that it is regrettable that the opposition delegation’s coming to the meeting has not yet been decided.
“The Astana process continues and is moving forward. I would not talk about any threat of derailing the talks,” he emphasized.
He said that Russia has not yet received additional clarification from the “Syrian opposition” about their demands, adding that they have come to Astana first and state them.
Lavrentiev said work is underway on this matter, adding that without those, it would be impossible to map the boundary lines between the terrorists and armed opposition groups.
